Liquid Wisdom Wine Cake

Cake Ingredients:

1   box yellow cake mix
1   3&3/4 oz.package instant vanilla pudding mix
4  eggs
1/2  cup vegtable oil
1/2  cup cold water
1/2  cup Liquid Wisdom Wine
1  cup of nuts (walnuts or pecans)


1/2 cup margarine (softened)
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup Liquid Wisdom Wine

Mix all cake ingredients (except nuts) with an electric mixer for 3 minutes. Fold in 3/4 cup of nuts. Grease and flour 10 inch tube pan and sprinkle remaining nuts on the bottom of the pan. Add the batter to the pan and bake at 325 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. (If using a cake mix with pudding in, omit instant pudding, use 3 eggs instead of 4 and 1/3 cup of oil instead of 1/2.)

The Glaze Topping:

Combine all ingredients and boil for 1 minute. Pour over cake (prick entire cake to let the glaze penetrate and leave in pan over night)

Best if made a few days ahead.

Green Chile Verde

3 Anaheim chiles (roasted)
¼ cup vegetable oil
2 lb boneless pork shoulder (cut into 1”chunks)
1 onion diced
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
6 cloves garlic (minced)
1 tablespoon flour
1 16oz can crushed tomatillos
2 cups chicken stock
Lime wedges

Roast peppers (400 degrees) 20 minutes, let cool
heat oil in large pan and add pork and cook till tender. Remove pork and add chiles, onion, garlic to the pot scraping bits from bottom of pan.
Cook till onions are soft, stir in flour and add pork, tomatillos and stock simmer, for 35 minutes till pork is tender and liquid is reduced.
Adjust flavor with salt and pepper or stock if needed
Serve with tortilla chips and lime wedges.
